I’m Deasy Arisa

Warning: This blog is not simple, because I am not simple.

If you are looking for a “niche,” you won’t find it here. One day I’ll write about earthquake data as an Earthquake Geodesist; the next day, I’ll write about the exact shade of orange the sky turns over Bukittinggi, or the way my husband makes me laugh when I’m overthinking. Lately, I’ve caught a new travel addiction—especially the pull towards Umrah in Saudi—and I’m starting to openly share my honest trials and triumphs in managing money and navigating adult life. I don’t have one life—I have several, and they all live here.

I am a Minangkabau woman who fell in love with the snow. A scientist. A wife who has been married for years but still needs ten pages of words just to say “I love you.” I speak fast, walk slow, and carry scars that I’ve learned to map like geological faults.

I love Indonesia, Japan, and the space in between where the sea waves crash. I loved crochet and knitting—they once brought me peace and order—but adulting (work, marriage, life) has quietly stolen my time, and my eyes protest at the tiny details now. So I’ve put the hooks down, and I’m learning to find that same order in other rhythms. I love Science because it explains the chaos. I am afraid of failing, being left, and hell—but I am more afraid of a life without flavor. That’s why I’m back to leveling up my Japanese—five years in Hokkaido gave me daily conversation, but now I want to go deeper—and I’m still trying to love spicy food (it’s not going well).

I survived the snowy roads of Hokkaido, but I cannot survive liars, smokers, or people who mock my size. I hate being pressured, and I hate gossipers. I am an open book and a locked diary at the same time. But if you come with an open mind, a smart brain, and a love for rain and winter—we will get along beautifully.

I am fragile, resilient, loud, slow, and deeply in love with being alive. This is my space for work, life, travel, money, faith, and everything in between. Welcome to the beautiful mess.
